After techinical disruptions…Eswatini Air restores flights
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Mbabane- Eswatini Air has restored its flight schedule after a technical problem forced the cancellation of two flights on Wednesday, disrupting travel between Eswatini and South Africa.

The problem occurred on Flight RN105, which was scheduled to fly from King Mswati III International Airport to OR Tambo International Airport on Wednesday afternoon. The aircraft was due to return to Eswatini later that evening as Flight RN106, but that flight was also cancelled.

In a statem3nt shared with this publication, the airline said the issue has since been resolved and that its operations have returned to normal.

Ndumiso Shongwe, Eswatini Air’s general manager, apologized to passengers whose travel plans were affected.

“Management deeply regrets the inconvenience caused,” Shongwe said, adding that the airline appreciated passengers’ patience and cooperation during the disruption.

The airline did not indicate how many passengers were affected by the cancellations.

Shongwe said the incident had not altered its commitment to safety, reliability and customer service, as it sought to reassure passengers and business partners that normal operations had resumed.

The airline began operating in 2023 from King Mswati III International Airport and currently connects Eswatini with Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town in South Africa, as well as Harare in Zimbabwe and Lusaka in Zambia.

Its fleet consists of two Embraer ERJ145 aircraft, each capable of carrying 50 passengers.

The airline received the African Airlines Association’s Airline of the Year Award for Best Improved in Intra-Africa Connectivity for its 2023 operations.
