Mbabane– The Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini and Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te have agreed to deepen economic cooperation between Eswatini and Taiwan, identifying trade, investment and digital innovation as priority areas for collaboration during bilateral talks at the Presidential Office in Taipei.
The high-level meeting, held as part of Prime Minister Dlamini’s official visit to Taiwan, reaffirmed the long-standing diplomatic ties between the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Republic of China (Taiwan), while setting the stage for enhanced cooperation in sectors considered vital to Eswatini’s development agenda.
During the talks, the two leaders explored opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, innovation, digital transformation, healthcare, education, agriculture, renewable energy and youth empowerment.
The discussions reflected a shared commitment to broadening the scope of the partnership beyond traditional development cooperation by creating new opportunities for economic growth, investment and technological advancement.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the diplomatic relations that have bound the two countries for decades, describing the partnership as one founded on mutual respect, shared values and cooperation.
The bilateral talks are expected to strengthen existing collaboration while opening new avenues for investment, innovation and skills development as Eswatini pursues its economic transformation agenda.
The Premier’s meeting with President Lai forms part of a series of engagements during his visit to Taiwan aimed at reinforcing bilateral relations and identifying new opportunities for cooperation that will deliver long-term benefits to both countries.
