Mbabane– Africa continued to dominate Eswatini’s international trade in June 2026, accounting for almost 95 percent of the country’s merchandise exports and close to 70 percent of its imports, according to the latest trade statistics released by the Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS).
The continent absorbed E3.22 billion, or 94.71 percent, of Eswatini’s total exports during the month, reaffirming its position as the country’s most important export market. Africa also supplied E2.66 billion, representing 69.83 percent, of all goods imported into Eswatini.
Europe emerged as Eswatini’s second-largest export destination after Africa, receiving goods worth E120.77 million, a 41.43 percent increase from June 2025.
Exports to North America also recorded strong growth, rising 59.74 percent year-on-year to E21.41 million, although they accounted for less than one percent of total exports.
Meanwhile, exports to Asia declined by 18.37 percent to E37.94 million, while shipments to Oceania remained negligible.
On the import side, Africa remained the dominant supplier, followed by Asia, which accounted for 18.52 percent of imports valued at E704.34 million.
Imports from Europe recorded the fastest growth among major regions, increasing by 56.91 percent year-on-year to E354.21 million.
Within the Southern African Customs Union (SACU), Eswatini exported goods worth E2.46 billion and imported E2.57 billion, resulting in a comparatively smaller trade deficit of E109.21 million during June.
