MBABANE – Eswatini’s contemporary cultural music group Emagagu is gearing up for a breakthrough season with the release of its much-anticipated new single, Umtsimba WeMzala, while preparing to take to one of the country’s biggest festival stages at the 2026 Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival.
The group will officially release Umtsimba WeMzala on Friday, July 10, across all major digital streaming platforms. The song is expected to further cement Emagagu’s growing reputation for blending traditional Swati music with modern African sounds, creating music that appeals to both younger audiences and lovers of cultural music.
Known for celebrating Eswatini’s heritage through powerful storytelling and energetic performances, Emagagu says the new single is a reflection of identity, celebration and community.
“This song represents celebration, identity and community. We wanted to create something that feels deeply rooted in who we are while also speaking to a broader African audience. Umtsimba WeMzala carries emotion, culture and energy that people will connect with,” the group said.
The release comes as the group continues to build momentum following memorable performances at major local festivals. Earlier this year, Emagagu impressed audiences on the Firefly (Corona) Stage at the MTN Bushfire Festival, earning praise for their energetic live performance and authentic cultural presentation.
The group’s growing popularity has now earned them a place in the lineup for the 2026 Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival, set for August 1 and 2 at House On Fire in Malkerns.
Widely regarded as one of Southern Africa’s leading lifestyle festivals, Luju brings together music, fashion, food and creative entrepreneurship while showcasing African excellence. Performing on the Luju stage marks another significant milestone for Emagagu as they continue to introduce Eswatini’s rich musical heritage to wider regional and international audiences.
The combination of a new music release and another high-profile festival appearance signals an exciting chapter for the group, whose fan base continues to grow across the region.
As African music enjoys unprecedented global recognition, Emagagu is positioning itself among a new generation of artists using contemporary sounds to preserve culture and tell authentic African stories. Their journey also reflects the growing potential of Eswatini’s creative industry, proving that local talent can compete on some of the continent’s biggest stages.
