MANZINI— The National Arts and Culture Awards (NACA) has announced the official closing dates for nominations across Eswatini’s four regions, urging artists, creatives, cultural practitioners and members of the public to submit their entries before the deadlines.

With the nomination period now underway, NACA Chairperson Thamsanqa “KrTC” Sibandze has called for widespread participation, emphasizing that this year’s awards are aimed at more than just celebrating excellence in the arts.

Speaking on the significance of the 2026 theme, “From Recognition to Industry Development,” Sibandze said the awards are undergoing a strategic transformation that seeks to position the arts as a key driver of economic growth and social development.

“This year’s theme signifies a bold strategic evolution in how we perceive our cultural and artistic pursuits. It is not merely symbolic; it shows our collective mission to leverage the arts as a potent catalyst for economic advancement and social progress,” he said.

Sibandze noted that the theme aligns with the Government of Eswatini’s efforts to create opportunities for young people and address unemployment. He stressed that the creative industry has the potential to contribute significantly to the country’s economic aspirations if adequately supported.

He further encouraged the public to play an active role in the process by nominating deserving artists and creatives before the closing dates.

Echoing these sentiments, Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) Chief Executive Officer Stanley Dlamini highlighted the importance of national ownership of the awards.

Dlamini said public participation would help strengthen the country’s creative sector and contribute to the development of industry-ready professionals.

“Participating in the nomination process and fully engaging with these awards will help us cultivate more industry professionals. This year’s focus extends beyond mere recognition; it aims to develop our creatives and produce industry-ready professionals through initiatives such as the Eswatini National Music Development Programme,” he said.

The nomination closing dates are as follows: Lubombo Region on July 15, 2026; Shiselweni Region on July 28, 2026; Hhohho Region on August 5, 2026; and Manzini Region on August 10, 2026.

NACA has urged all eligible participants and supporters of the arts to ensure that nominations are submitted on time to help make the 2026 edition a success.
