Mbabane — The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the immediate resumption of national identification (ID) card production services across the country.
The announcement follows a period of system disruption. The ministry has confirmed that technical issues affecting the ID production system have been resolved through the dedicated efforts of relevant stakeholders.
The ministry stated they understand how important these identification documents are to citizens. The department is committed to maintaining normal operations to prevent future disruptions.
ID card services are now operating at nine specific service centres countrywide:
- Pigg’s Peak
- Mbabane
- Manzini
- Mankayane
- Simunye
- Siphofaneni
- Matata
- Nhlangano
- Hluthi
The ministry issued directives for different categories of applicants. Individuals who enrolled for their documents during the system breakdown must check on or collect their finished ID cards. They must go directly to the specific service centres where they first initiated their applications.
New applicants who need an ID card for the first time are encouraged to visit their nearest service centre. People who require official re-issues of their cards can also go to these offices for help with the application process.
The public should prepare for an increase in demand and long queues at the service centres in the coming weeks. The ministry asks for public patience and understanding while staff work diligently to assist everyone promptly and efficiently. Leadership expressed appreciation for the cooperation of the public as they work to ensure every citizen receives an accurate and timely identity card.
