Malkerns – The growing Malkerns community has welcomed a new commercial development following the official opening of Malkerns Parkview by Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo yesterday.

The development brings a mix of retail outlets and essential services closer to residents, while providing a new platform for businesses, employees and local suppliers to participate in the local economy.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Minister Khumalo said developments such as Malkerns Parkview demonstrated the contribution that private investment could make towards economic growth and job creation.

He said the benefits of investment should extend beyond the businesses operating within a development and create opportunities throughout the wider community.

“Malkerns Parkview brings a range of retail and essential services closer to residents, offering greater convenience and choice while creating opportunities for businesses, employees, local suppliers and other enterprises across the value chain,” the Minister said.

Khumalo said Government, through the Ministry, remained committed to creating a business environment that supports investment, the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), access to markets and sustainable economic development.

The Minister also stressed that economic growth should be reflected in the daily lives of citizens through better access to services, employment opportunities and improved quality of life.

Malkerns Parkview is expected to provide residents with greater access to goods and services without having to travel further afield, while giving businesses operating from the development an opportunity to serve a growing population.

The opening also brought together the developers, tenants, business partners and members of the Malkerns community, who were congratulated by the Ministry for their contribution to the development.

The Ministry expressed its hope that Malkerns Parkview would continue to grow and provide lasting economic opportunities for businesses and the surrounding community.
