Mbabane- Eswatini recorded a strong increase in tourist arrivals in April 2026, with the country welcoming 99 884 visitors, representing a 10.1 percent rise compared to the same month last year.
According to the latest Monthly Tourism Statistical Release issued by the Eswatini Tourism Authority, South Africa remained the Kingdom’s largest regional source market despite a slight decline in visitor numbers.
The report shows that South Africa contributed 56 259 arrivals during the month, although this reflected a marginal decrease of 1.8 percent year-on-year. Mozambique ranked second with 20 285 visitors, recording significant growth of 31.3 percent, while Zimbabwe contributed 7 423 arrivals, up by 41.4 percent.
From overseas markets, the Netherlands emerged as the leading source market with 1 139 visitors, reflecting a 1 percent increase. France followed closely with 1 108 arrivals after posting growth of 17.4 percent, while the United States contributed 952 visitors, slightly down by 0.2 percent.
The tourism authority also identified Lesotho, Zambia and Brazil among Eswatini’s top emerging tourism markets, signalling growing international interest in the destination.
Meanwhile, the report indicated that the average visitor stayed in the country for 2.1 nights during April.
The latest figures point to continued recovery and expansion within Eswatini’s tourism sector, supported by growing regional travel demand and increasing market diversification efforts.
