Mbabane – The Taiwan Industrial and Innovation Park (TIIP) is set to play a pivotal role in reshaping Eswatini’s investment landscape by driving economic diversification and unlocking new opportunities for Taiwanese firms beyond their traditional markets.
The Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Trade, Melusi Masuku standing in for Honorable Manqoba Khumalo, said the initiative goes beyond strengthening industrial cooperation, positioning Eswatini as a strategic destination for investors seeking to expand into emerging sectors.
“The TIIP is a key instrument not only for industrial cooperation, but for diversification into new sectors that allow investors to go beyond established markets,” Masuku said.
He said the park is structured to attract investment into non-traditional sectors, broadening the scope of bilateral economic engagement while supporting Eswatini’s long-term economic transformation agenda.
Masuku noted that the initiative is expected to open opportunities across a range of industries, including technology, manufacturing, agriculture, and services, with a strong focus on value addition and innovation-driven growth.
He further highlighted that government continues to implement reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business and strengthening investor support systems to ensure the successful implementation of large-scale projects such as the TIIP.
The PS said growing interest from Taiwanese companies signals confidence in Eswatini’s policy direction and its commitment to creating a conducive investment environment.
He added that the partnership between Eswatini and Taiwan has evolved into a dynamic, development-oriented relationship anchored on mutual benefit, private sector participation, and shared economic ambitions.
Masuku also pointed out that the TIIP has the potential to position Eswatini as a regional hub for diversified manufacturing and innovation, contributing to broader economic integration and sustainable growth.
The seminar formed part of ongoing efforts to deepen trade and investment cooperation between Eswatini and Taiwan, with the TIIP emerging as a central pillar of future collaboration.
