MANZINI- Healthcare services in the Manzini Region received a major boost this Friday following the official handover of newly renovated facilities at the TB Hospital.

The development forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Health to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve service delivery for patients. The project included the rehabilitation of the hospital’s pharmacy and radiology departments, as well as the installation of a modern CT scanner aimed at enhancing diagnostic services.

The rehabilitation works were coordinated by Micro Projects, with construction carried out by Msibhosi Construction Company. The new pharmacy now includes renovated waiting and dispensing areas, four dedicated medication storerooms equipped with cooling systems, and improved storage and delivery spaces designed to ensure the proper preservation and management of pharmaceutical supplies.

Security within the pharmacy was also strengthened through the installation of an integrated surveillance and biometric access control system by Destiny Group, allowing management to monitor movements and control access to sensitive areas.

Following the pharmacy renovations, work began in the radiology department where the CT scan room, viewing room, doctor’s office, server room and storage areas were prepared to meet required standards. Additional upgrades were made to changing rooms, bathrooms and other facilities, while floors were treated with epoxy coating and walls repainted to ensure a clean and professional environment.

A major highlight of the project is the installation of a modern CT scan machine donated by the Taiwan Medical Mission. The advanced equipment is now fully operational and is expected to significantly improve diagnostic capacity at the hospital.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mduduzi Matsebula said the development represents an important milestone in improving healthcare services in the country.

“From today onward, the people of Eswatini will have access to high-quality medical services at this hospital. This CT scanner marks a new era in healthcare and strengthens our mission to provide better diagnostic and treatment services,” said Matsebula.

Meanwhile, Khetsiwe Simelane revealed that the rehabilitation works for both the pharmacy and radiology departments, including construction and electrical installations, cost E2,968,090.93.

Officials also highlighted that the initiative reflects the strong partnership between Eswatini and Taiwan in advancing healthcare development and improving the wellbeing of citizens.
