NHLANGANO – The Eswatini Meteorological Service has warned of severe thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain showers expected across parts of the country today from midday into the evening.
According to the forecast released in Nhlangano, morning fog is anticipated in some areas, with light rain in isolated places. Conditions will otherwise be partly cloudy and warm, turning hot in the Lowveld. Thunderstorms and rain showers are expected to develop in the afternoon through to the evening.
The weather office says the unsettled conditions are linked to atmospheric instability building up over the country, bringing the likelihood of intense storms before nightfall.
Tomorrow, forecasters predict morning fog in some areas, followed by partly cloudy and cool conditions, becoming warm to hot in the Lowveld. Scattered thunderstorms and rain showers are expected later in the day.
On Sunday, drizzle and fog are forecast in certain places. The day will otherwise be cloudy with partly intervals and cold conditions, though it will remain cool in the Lowveld.
This week’s temperatures supplied by the weather service show Mbabane expected to record 19 to 28 degrees Celsius today, dropping to 18 to 25 tomorrow and 13 to 17 on Sunday.
In Siteki, temperatures are projected at 22 to 31 today, easing to 21 to 28 tomorrow and 16 to 20 on Sunday.
Big Bend is forecast at 21 to 30 today, 20 to 27 tomorrow and 15 to 19 on Sunday.
Manzini will see warmer conditions, reaching 24 to 34 today, 23 to 31 tomorrow and cooling to 18 to 23 on Sunday.
Residents in Lomahasha and Lavumisa are also expected to experience fluctuating temperatures and possible rainfall as the storm system moves across the country.
The Eswatini Meteorological Service has advised the public to exercise caution during thunderstorms, particularly in areas prone to flooding and strong winds.
