MBABANE – Three of Eswatini’s top comedians, Sewakhile Dlamini, King Mora, and Ronnie, have joined forces to produce a new online skit series aimed at entertaining audiences and advancing the local comedy scene.
Speaking on how the collaboration came together, Sewakhile described the process as organic and deeply rooted in mutual respect. “We’ve all been watching each other’s work from a distance, respecting the grind and the consistency each of us brings to comedy. Through conversations, shared spaces, and a mutual love for making people laugh, it became clear that our energies aligned,” he said.
Each comedian brings a distinct strength to the project. King Mora contributes a strong artistic vision, Ronnie adds his signature timing and flavour, and Sewakhile delivers compelling storytelling and character-driven comedy. What began as casual discussions about working together soon transformed into action. “At some point, it stopped being about ‘let’s work together someday’ and became ‘let’s do it now.’ It was really about unity, growth, and pushing each other to be better,” Sewakhile added.
In the upcoming series, Sewakhile plays an energetic yet problematic step-child navigating the challenges of a blended family. His character, born out of wedlock and raised by his grandmother before moving in with his mother and stepfather, struggles with rejection, identity, and belonging. The portrayal uses humour and exaggerated expression to address social issues such as absent biological fathers, step-parent resentment, and the emotional toll these dynamics place on children.
According to Sewakhile, the collaboration sends a clear message about the power of teamwork over competition. “This means growth and possibility. It shows that local comedians can come together, create quality content, and elevate the industry as a whole. It opens doors for bigger platforms, more recognition, and inspires upcoming comedians to believe that comedy can be a serious and respected craft,” he explained.
The series will be released on the comedians’ social media platforms. While the exact timeline has not been confirmed, early fan response has been overwhelmingly positive. “The energy and response so far are really encouraging. All we can say for now is stay tuned, there’s more thrilling and meaningful content coming your way,” Sewakhile said.
Through humour, relatable storytelling, and authentic Swati experiences, the project is set to showcase Eswatini’s rich comedic talent while pushing creative boundaries.
