Mbabane – Eswatini’s education sector has received a significant boost following the appointment of UNICEF Eswatini as the Grant Agent for the Global Partnership for Education System Capacity Grant. The two year investment is valued at USD 1 million and is expected to strengthen the foundations of learning across the country.
According to UNICEF, the grant will support key national priorities, beginning with improvements in teacher development programmes to enhance classroom delivery and learning quality. The initiative will also assist the Ministry of Education and Training in developing and implementing a national learning assessment system that will allow government to accurately measure progress and identify gaps that affect learner performance.
The funding will further support efforts to improve the country’s education data systems, enabling more reliable information to guide policy decisions. Better coordination among education partners and stronger collaboration between the Ministry and development stakeholders also forms part of the intended outcomes.
UNICEF Eswatini says it is committed to working alongside the Ministry to advance equitable and inclusive learning opportunities for children across the country.
