Maputo, Mozambique – A woman travelling from Luanda to Maputo aboard a TAAG Angola Airlines flight died in the early hours of Saturday after suffering a medical emergency mid-air.
The airline confirmed the incident in a statement, identifying the flight as DT5781 and noting that the passenger, an Angolan national, was travelling with her husband when she suddenly became unwell.
Crew members reportedly administered first aid during the flight and contacted authorities in Mozambique to arrange immediate medical assistance upon landing. Despite their efforts, medical teams declared the woman dead soon after the aircraft touched down at Maputo International Airport.
Mozambican medico-legal authorities conducted an onboard investigation to determine the cause of death while airport health officials carried out standard procedures, including cleaning and disinfecting the aircraft.
