Cape Town – South Africa’s Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, has given his official endorsement to the Africa Energy Indaba 2026, describing it as a key platform that continues to shape Africa’s sustainable energy future.
The announcement was made on 21 October 2025 in Cape Town, where Dr Ramokgopa confirmed the government’s full support for the Indaba. The event is scheduled to take place from 3 to 5 March 2026 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. It is widely recognised as the continent’s leading gathering for dialogue, investment and collaboration within the energy sector.
Dr Ramokgopa said the South African government views the Indaba as an important space for fostering partnerships that promote energy security, industrial growth and a just energy transition. He said Africa must chart its own energy path that balances development, sustainability and inclusivity, while driving solutions that can respond to the continent’s energy challenges.
The Africa Energy Indaba 2026 will bring together ministers, policymakers, investors and industry leaders to discuss innovative approaches to energy development. The agenda will cover renewable energy integration, infrastructure development, energy access and financing mechanisms. It will also provide opportunities for governments, development finance institutions and the private sector to strengthen collaboration in achieving the continent’s energy goals.
Liz Hart, the Managing Director of the Africa Energy Indaba, said Dr Ramokgopa’s endorsement demonstrates the event’s importance in advancing energy transformation in Africa. She said South Africa’s leadership continues to inspire collective action towards energy security, investment and sustainable development across the region.
