Paris, France – Paris Saint-Germain opened their Champions League title defence with a commanding 4-0 win over Atalanta at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.
Captain Marquinhos set the tone, scoring in the third minute from Fabian Ruiz’s cross. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia doubled the lead in the 39th minute with a solo effort, beating the Atalanta defence before firing from 18 yards.
Nuno Mendes added a third for PSG early in the second half, finishing at the near post after a tight-angle shot. Substitute Gonçalo Ramos completed the rout in stoppage time, intercepting a poor backpass and slotting home calmly.
Atalanta struggled to threaten PSG keeper Lucas Chevalier, with goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi making several key saves to limit damage earlier in the game. PSG’s next fixtures include away trips to Barcelona and Bayer Leverkusen, followed by home matches against Bayern Munich and Tottenham. Atalanta will host Club Brugge on 30 September.
