MBABANE – Four of Eswatini’s top models are set to showcase their talent at South Africa’s ShaunBrave Fashion Week on 27 September.

Simiso Dlamini, Melissa Notsikelelo Nhlabatsi, Nompendulo Mdluli, and Paula Minenhle Mamba will take to the Matlaba Media stage at Madiba Drive, Thembisa, during the event. Top Models Eswatini CEO, Mbalenhle Kimberley Manana, confirmed the participation, noting that it is the agency’s first appearance at the show.

“This is our first time working with ShaunBrave, and we look forward to building a long-term collaboration,” Manana said.

Independent News also spoke to two of the models about their journeys and preparations for the international stage.

Q: Tell us about your journey as a model.
A: I am a professional model under the agency Top Models Eswatini. I have done a show in Pretoria CBB Discovery and a show in Springs Mohato Africa. The fashion show I had was truly wonderful because I had a lot of confidence compared to my first show.

Q: How would you say you have improved in your profession over the years?
A: The runway walks; the posing and the performance were all so improved and I will forever be proud of myself for doing much better. Being able to walk with more confidence and maintaining eye contact, I was able to adapt and showcase both edgy and elegant looks, which was a big improvement for me. Everything went really well and was done effortlessly because of the love I have for modelling and being true to myself. I will forever be grateful to my manager for trusting me and giving me the spotlight for the greatest exposure.

Q: Tell us about yourself and your modelling journey.
A: I’m a beautiful young lady named Paula Mamba. A former student of St Joseph’s High School. I’m a model signed under Top Models Eswatini. I’m from Mbekelweni. It’s going to be my first time attending a show outside my country.

I’m excited about it. I recently joined Top Models Eswatini. I’m a free spirited, loud and bubbly person who is goal oriented, I strive to turn my goals into reality.

I have always wanted to be a model as that’s where my passion lies. I decided to do modelling as I always knew that I was unique, beautiful and different. I believe I have great communication skills which means I can work well with diverse and different brands, as well as photographers to achieve a strong vision.

The exposure and publicity are what I wanted as I wish to get many, great opportunities. What makes me unique and different from other models is that I am confident, smart and always ready to do something new and can easily express myself.

I have hit the runway twice, first was in 2024 and second was this year on the 29 of March 2025. So, from this I know I can do many more great things through modelling.

My favourite model right now is Diana Eneje. She is my favourite because of her uniqueness and accomplishment. From her I have learnt that you should never give up and never let anyone discourage you because we are all different and unique in our own ways. I don’t have much experience in modelling but from what I have done so far, creativity is what I am most capable of doing and proud of. I have not travelled to any country for my career. My greatest weakness is failing and I always try to find a way to overcome it.
