Matsapha – The five-day intensive Amazon Web Services training for seven developers from the Royal Science and Technology Park concluded on Friday with a ceremony attended by Hon. Minister Savannah Maziya, Senator and Minister of Information, Communications and Technology.
The programme aimed to equip local developers with advanced skills in cloud computing and digital innovation. Minister Maziya described the partnership with AWS as a key step in positioning Eswatini as a leader in technology, cybersecurity and digitization.
The training included courses on AWS Cloud Practitioner and Developing on AWS, providing participants with certifications and practical skills to develop secure, scalable and innovative digital solutions.
Minister Maziya also reflected on recent initiatives under her leadership, including training 108 girls in space education, empowering 50 teachers in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and launching a coding programme targeting 300,000 emaSwati.
The RSTP Board Chairperson thanked AWS and the Ministry for the collaboration, noting that the skills gained by developers will strengthen the country’s tech ecosystem and contribute to sustainable innovation.
Minister Maziya urged all stakeholders to continue supporting the development of local talent and expressed her vision of making Eswatini the “Singapore of Africa” through strategic partnerships and capacity building.
