Eswatini-born vocalist Leebombo is set to perform at the upcoming “One Night with Phumla Music and Friends” concert on Saturday, 26 July 2025, at the Mbombela Stadium Restaurant Arena. The event, themed Touching Lives Ngemculo, will bring together a stellar line-up of Southern African artists for a night of live music and celebration.
Leebombo, whose real name is Nonhlanhla Vilakati, will share the stage with South African star Phumla Angel, also known as Phumla Nkomo, who is currently gaining traction on Big Brother Mzansi. The two previously performed together at the Makoti Festival activation in March at Mbombela’s Botanical Gardens, and later at the main festival held at Malkerns Country Club on April 26.
Now performing independently after three years with NewLife Entertainment, Leebombo is looking forward to connecting with fans in what she describes as her biggest stage appearance yet. “Mbombela, expect fire! We dance, we move, and we sing our hearts out,” she said.
The show will feature additional performances from Nokwazi, Mawelele, Lin Dough, Makhosi, Zamo Dlamini, Olefied Khetha, Xolani Mdlalose, and Frank Mabeat. The event will be hosted by popular media personalities Kede Mkhabela and Siya Mokoena, with the Black Carpet experience curated by Princess M and Pillay Mnisi.
Leebombo began her music journey as a young girl in Maphungwane, Siteki, singing into her mother’s roll-on bottle and leading school assemblies. Her talent was nurtured by a high school teacher, Noti Mvakali, who connected her to gospel legend Sipho Makhabane. She soon began working as a backup vocalist in the gospel music scene.
Her breakthrough solo moment came at the Swazi Rhythm Launch, where she shared the stage with artists like Floewe, Nomalungelo Dladla, and Velemseni. Earlier this year, she also performed in Mozambique alongside singer Lizha James during the second leg of the Makoti Festival activation.
With dreams of working with Blaq Diamond, Bholoja, and Inkabi Nation, Leebombo says the Mbombela performance is part of her journey to reaching even greater heights. Phumla has also teased a possible collaboration between the two on her upcoming EP.
