The Family Life Association of Eswatini (FLAS) has received a fresh boost in the fight against HIV, following the official handover of a consignment of CAB-LA, a long-acting injectable pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medication, from the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

The donation was presented on Monday, 16 June 2025, at the FLAS Head Office in Mbabane, during a handover ceremony attended by officials from the Ministry of Health.

CAB-LA becomes the latest addition to Eswatini’s growing arsenal of biomedical HIV prevention tools under the Consortium to Advance Access to New Biomedical HIV Prevention Products (CAAPP Project). It follows the introduction of the PrEP Ring in 2024, giving clients more tailored prevention options.

Ministry of Health Programme Manager Sindi Matse said the expansion of PrEP options would cater to the different needs and preferences of users, allowing greater flexibility and uptake. She thanked both IPPF and FLAS for their continued efforts to strengthen HIV prevention in the country.
