EZULWINI – The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, represented by Minister of Health, Mduduzi Matsebula, has urged the business communities in Mozambique and Eswatini to forge partnerships that grow both countries economies.
Speaking on Monday at the Mozambican President Daniel Chapo’s first State visit at the Royal Villas, Ezulwini, the minister said it was important to not only maintain the relations that both nations have enjoyed foe centuries but to also grow their economies.
“I therefore urge all businesses present to seize this opportunity to forge Joint Ventures and Partnerships; this includes exploring collaborative ventures in agro-processing, textiles, logistics, and tourism,” Matsebula said.
The minister said that local businesses need to leverage Mozambique’s port infrastructure and Eswatini’s land-linked logistics to create cost-effective corridors.
He also said while working to simplify cross-border trade, businesses must continue to work with both governments to innovate ways to reduce delays at the border and cut costs.
Mozambique and Eswatini share borders, are both Southern African Development Community (SADC) member States, and have for centuries enjoyed cultural exchanges.
Chapo’s political visit is hoped to be translated into jobs, infrastructure, uplifted livelihoods for both nations, economic and social progress for both nations, not only for both Eswatini and Mozambique but its neighbours, culminating from his Malawi visit.
Matsebula said collective prosperity depends upon deepening trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges, further calling for deepening economic integration.
Both speakers from Mozambique and Eswatini stated that those who should end up benefiting from flourishing growth are the citizens and the business community while the governments are there on the facilitation objective.
“To our business communities: I challenge you to turn today’s dialogue into concrete deals, strategic alliances, and inclusive growth that uplift the livelihoods of every citizen in both our nations,” the minister said.
