Local business owners who recently showcased their products in Botswana and India gathered at the Mananga Business Centre on 9 May to share their experiences navigating international markets.
The session formed part of the Taiwan-funded Women’s Microenterprise Project, which has been working with Eswatini entrepreneurs to help them access global opportunities. Micro-entrepreneurs spoke candidly about the challenges and breakthroughs they encountered during exhibitions abroad.
Discussions included practical lessons such as setting prices in foreign currencies, negotiating language barriers, and tapping into new markets through the support of local agents. Several participants noted that building relationships on the ground was critical to expanding their reach.
Organisers also introduced digital solutions that could soon transform how local businesses promote themselves internationally. Tools such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR) were presented as innovative ways to attract global customers.
