Mbabane -The Central Bank of Eswatini is all out to prevent counterfeiting, maintain currency security and relevance.
The bank through its governor Phil Mnisi announced the E200 banknote reprint at the recently ended Eswatini International Trade Fair.
In his remarks, the governor explained that the first note was issued in 2017.
“The E200 banknote will come with changes that includes changing the country’s name from Swaziland to Eswatini. “
He explained that due to the change in names as cited above, “the see through clear text in security thread now spells ‘CBE’ which stood for Central Bank of Eswatini instead of ‘CBS’ which stood for the initial writing of Central Bank of Swaziland.
He also added that another change that will be found in the new banknote was the change in signature of the current Minister of Finance, Neal Rijkenberg and that of the governor.
Furthermore, Mnisi highlighted that more changes found in the new E200 included the improvement in the portrait of his Majesty King Mswati III.
