Mbabane: Eswatini has recorded one more new confirmed case of COVID-19 bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 16.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi Wednesday April 15, 2020 during a press conference held at the Cabinet offices.
The minister disclosed that a total of 24 results were received by the ministry of which 23 tested negative and one positive.
The 16th case is a 25-year-old woman of Hhohho Region, who has travelled to KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
The ministry continues to request the public to cooperate with rapid response teams as they go about their duties finding contacts of positive cases.
Eswatini has also extended the partial lockdown by 21 days in a bid to curtail the spread of COVID-19, an infectious disease caused by the novel coronavirus. The disease causes respiratory illness with flu-like symptoms such as a dry cough, high fever, and in more severe cases, difficulty in breathing.
People can protect themselves by washing hands frequently, avoiding touching their faces, and avoiding close contact with (staying at least one meter away from) other people.
The virus was first recorded in Wuhan, china, in December 2019, and rapidly spread to other parts of the world. according to statistics in the coronavirus world meter as of April 15,2020, 2pm there were 2,015,569 confirmed cases worldwide with 127,635 deaths and 491,911 recoveries since the outbreak over the past three months.
