It’s an 8% growth from 2020 exports of about E28.3 billion

Ezulwini – Eswatini is on the right track in as far as products exports are concerned, at least according to Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo’s observation.

At the second edition of the Eswatini Annual Exporter Awards, Minister Khumalo said, “It is exciting for me to note that even during these tough economic times for Eswatini we still have major companies exporting from our country, some have been exporting for a number of years, as well as others coming in to setup their factories in Eswatini. I say this noting that last year’s exports were over E30.6 billion from different sectors of business which is an 8 per cent growth from 2020 exports of about E28.3 billion.”

He said recently, they were honoured to have his Majesty the King officially launch the newly opened Kellogg – Tolaram factory, who have a wide export market and on the day they gather to recognize some of the most notable exporters as a token of appreciation and encouragement to continue exporting goods and services from Eswatini.

He continued, “The Exporter awards recognize top exporters, consistent exporters over the years, as well as new entrants in the export business. These awards further recognize companies with leading social and economic impact to our country. I have been told that over 20 companies applied for recognition in the different categories of the awards. This indeed is encouraging, noting that companies are enthusiastic about doing business in Eswatini, in particular exporting to other markets across the globe.”

The legislator added that the Exporter Awards will serve as a key enabler for market penetration to the winners as business seeks to expand into different markets. “Profiling your company as a recipient of these prestigious awards positions that company as a reliable and experienced supplier in exports. Global clients will take note of these awards in your profile and will appreciate that they are dealing with reputable establishments that they can trust with their business.”

The senator took the opportunity to congratulate the winners and all the nominees for their success in exports.  He said it is the objective of government to increase and diversify exports from Eswatini.

“As such, all government departments and institutions are geared to support and facilitate export trade as a priority. Institutions like Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) and Business Eswatini are here to support business from every angle. I would also like to extend my appreciation to the USAID Trade Hub as well as the US Embassy in Eswatini for their support and collaborations made towards business facilitation in Eswatini.”
