Mbabane: Eswatini Post and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC) could not be left behind in joining hands in the fight against the stubborn pandemic COVID-19. EPTC is the major player in the kingdom of Eswatini’s communication’s fraternity.

Since the outbreak was declared as a national emergency by His Majesty King Mswati III through Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini on March 17, 2020 a number of private and public entities have been on toes working tirelessly in fighting against the spread of the virus in the country and EPTC is the latest to come along and pledge a donation. The Resource Mobilization Committee headed by Dr Phil Mnisi is tasked to solicit funding towards the fight against the outbreak. To this far, the committee has collected over 200 million SZL.

EPTC’s Corporate Affairs Manager Nqobile Magagula confirmed the contribution 250 000 SZL by the Corporation, mentioning that as a company they  saw it fit to join hands with the rest of the nation in curbing the spread of the virus that continues to claim lives across the globe, albeit with declining numbers. Luckily enough for the kingdom, there has not been any deaths reported as yet amidst the 12 confirmed cases with 7 recoveries.

The donations by various companies including individuals have demonstrated unity amongst citizenry and the government all to fight a common enemy. Chairman of the Resource Mobilization Committee Dr Phil Mnisi has appreciated the donations from the various entities, noting the great mileage they have come. Donations received as of March 9, 2020 sum up to 76 024 240 SZL including pledges and actual amount donated.
