Soldiers deployed in KZN and Gauteng

SANDF deployed to KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng to assist law enforcement agencies amid violent protests

President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared a state of emergency in KZN and Gauteng on section 37 of the South African constitution allows a State of Emergency to be declared. South African National Army is being deployed with immediate effect; the Army had fled from Waterkloof to KZN and Gauteng to try and help the law enforcement to stabilize the situation that is happening, it is reported that some businesses had been looted trucks and cars been burnt.

SANDF soldiers have been deployed to KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng to assist law enforcement agencies amid violent protests.

“The South African National Defence Force has commenced with pre-deployment processes and procedures in line with a request for assistance received to assist law enforcement agencies deployed in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal provinces respectively to quell the unrest that has gripped both Provinces in the last few days,” it said in a statement.

Earlier on Monday, the Democratic Alliance called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to authorize the deployment of the SANDF in targeted areas.

They’re also calling for an urgent meeting with all party leaders to discuss the crisis.

DA leader John Steenhuisen says the violence taking place across the country is coordinated, he says it stems from internal ANC battles that have now spilt onto the streets, Steenhuisen is urging President Cyril Ramaphosa to intervene and ensure that those involved face the full force of the law, the party is asking Ramaphosa to authorize the deployment of the SANDF in a supplementary role to the SAPS in targeted areas.

They’re also calling for an urgent meeting with all party leaders to discuss the crisis.

Both Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal are on fire as protesters are all over the streets looting and burning trucks, cars, and shops in circulating social media videos the looters were heard saying (sifuna uZuma thina) meaning we want Zuma, as they calling for Zuma s release from prison.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the deaths of at least six people so far following a wave of protests and looting in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng, people are getting injuries and a few were reported dead while looting some shops and burning cars.
