While some may view this as the season to surrender to a bland and reclusive lifestyle, travelers will be delighted to know that they don’t have to hit the snooze button while longing for the return of summer.

Traveling in winter can be an enchanting and wholesome experience characterized by indoor-lounging, warm hearty meals, and crackling fires against the ever-stunning backdrop of Eswatini’s rolling hills, fascinating wildlife, and the dynamic leisure offerings at various local establishments.

In fact, adrenaline junkies and lovers of the outdoors will tell you that winter is one of the best times to immerse oneself in the wonders of nature and to connect with our surroundings. The pace is much slower during this season, thus offering an irresistible chance to be more present as you observe and explore the different pockets of our country and re-discover the true essence of Eswatini’s beauty. From hiking and horse riding to cycling and fishing, there’s never been a better time to go out and be free in the open air.

So, if you’ve been searching for ways to add some colour to your winter days, then rest assured that exploring the Kingdom of Eswatini is just the amount of splash you need to pump in some much-needed excitement and continue creating pleasant memories.

Much like last year, this year’s winter season requires a cautious approach to travel necessitated by The New Normal. As the world continues to worm its way out of the COVID-19 pandemic and glide towards effective and sustainable recovery strategies that will cushion the devasting impact that the pandemic has had on the tourism and travel industry, it is important that we start to re-imagine tourism and travel as a rewarding contribution to the resuscitation of Eswatini’s economic recovery. Therefore, it is important that we continue to adhere to all health and safety protocols when out and about.

It is no secret that a lot of the local tourism establishments feel like a home away from, but may we not let this tempt us into letting your mask down. May we remember that we are still in the middle of a dreadful pandemic that has taken a lot of lives and threatened many livelihoods in Eswatini and the world over. With this in mind, let us go out and explore Eswatini this winter, soaking up the richness of our flora and fauna, diving into the many adventures that await us, and basking in the warmth that EmaSwati are renowned for.

The Eswatini tourism industry has prepared a diverse and appealing range of Winter Warmer Specials to induce our cravings for road trips, camping excursions, fine dining, outdoor activities, and staycations in hotels, lodges, and B&Bs this winter. These are available on the official Eswatini Tourism website, www.thekingdomofeswatini.com

The winter season presents a great opportunity for more cultural sightseeing. Eswatini has colourful and educational galleries and museums which make for a special outing for the whole family. The ongoing discounted offers on accommodation, meals, and outdoor activities are an appealing invitation and a welcome means of getting us all out of our familiar surroundings and on the roads with a spirit of curiosity and a sense of adventure.
