Mbabane: Acting Prime Minister, Themba Nhlanganiso Masuku has announced reopening of the Art Industry under strict COVID-19 regulations.
This regulations includes that there will be no dance floors allowed and booze will not be served during the entertainment events.
Speaking at the press conference held at the Cabinet offices on Thursday afternoon, Masuku said the maximum number of people permitted at an outdoor entertainment event has been increased to 500. For an indoor event, the limit will be 300 people, considering the size of the venue and social distancing protocols.
All entertainment activities will be restricted to two and a half hours.
“We have all borne witness to the devastating socio-economic effects that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused on the Arts industry, as hundreds of emaSwati artists have lost their income over the past year.”
The Acting Prime Minister highlighted that alcohol remains strictly for home consumption and shall not be served at entertainment venues.
Furthermore, only the pre-sale of tickets is permitted and the provision of hand-washing points or hand sanitizing stations remains compulsory.
On another note, the Acting Prime Minister further announced that Memorial services are now allowed with strict adherence to all COVID-19 health protocols for a period not exceeding two and a half hours.
Religious organizations will now be allowed one midweek service with strict adherence to laid down protocols. The duration of all services shall not exceed two and a half hours and shall not be held beyond 8pm.
Social distance among congregants will now be 1 metre.
