Simunye: A senior police officer who was taken to court for a child maintenance case, shot the mother of his child and her uncle just outside the magistrate court at Simunye.
Information to the effect was that after losing the case, the police officer and his ‘baby mama’ had an argument outside the court and while they were still having that argument the police officer went to fetch his gun from his car and came back and shot the two. The two reportedly died on the spot.
The uncle was reported to have been accompanying his niece.
Deputy Police Information and Communications officer Nosipho Mnguni confirmed the incident. Mnguni said the police officer immediately after shooting the two, went to his house at the Simunye Police Camp where he locked himself for quite some time.
Mnguni said other police officers went to the police officer’s house where they tried talking to him but he could not respond until they heard a gunshot. Upon hearing the gunshot they forcefully entered the house and they found him wounded as he had shot himself. Mnguni said they police officer was not dead by the time of compiling the report instead he was rushed to the hospital.
