Mbabane: Cyclone Eloise has claimed the life of a popular traditional healer Elliot ‘Black Cat’ Fakudze of Mndobandoba.

In a video clip that emerged on social media on Sunday evening, eyewitness claimed that the prominent inyanga had been swept away by floods around Mndobandoba.

It was gathered that he was driving his white Toyota Fortuner when this sad incident happened. It was said he was travelling with four (4) people including his two (2) children.

Sources close to the matter said the children managed to escape through the car window.

Means to get a comment from Eswatini Royal Police Service (REPS), Public Relations and Communications Officer Phindile Vilakati proved unsuccessful as she could not respond to questions sent to her during the time of compiling this report.

The well-known traditional healer made headlines during the elapsed year when he claimed he could find the Tanzanian woman whose corpse disappeared at the National Tuberculosis (TB) Hospital at Moneni, Manzini. Fakudze claimed he could find the corpse within three days.

Fakudze gained popularity in 2013 after claiming that he had a talking calabash which he consulted after the death of his son, Mukelo, who was a soldier and died after being allegedly punished by military police.

He told one of the local publication that his speaking calabashes could enable those who took the missing corpse to reveal their identities and confess their wrongdoing.

“The speaking calabashes can also find the corpse within three days, either buried or mutilated,” Fakudze said.

Apparently the traditional healer’s bid to find the corpse hit a snag as up to date the corpse still missing.

Tropical Cyclone Eloise has made landfall just south of Beira, Mozambique, in the pre-dawn hours Saturday morning.

The cyclone hit made landfall in Eswatini since the morning on Sunday and has made numerous floods throughout the country.

The police service had since issued a public notice listing a number of rivers which had been flooded. The police urged the public to avoid this rivers and continue observing the recently launched curfew which starts at 8pm to 4am.
