Durban – The former Bafana Bafana international will now take over the reins at AmaZulu, replacing Ayanda ‘Cobra’ Dlamini, who stepped down from the post a week ago.

The Siya crew reported that McCarthy was offered the Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) job in January, but turned it down due to the timing.
He returned to Scotland with his family and had made the shortlist for the Hearts coaching job, but the Scottish Premiership side went with another candidate from their top three.
McCarthy has always been adamant that he wanted to return to the dugout soon and his camp had been putting out feelers for potential jobs.
It was three weeks ago that his name came up in the Usuthu corridors, with new owner, Sandile Zungu, keen to lure a high profile coach to lead his vision.
On Monday, Zungu confirmed McCarthy as the new coach of the KZN outfit after the 2004 Uefa Champions League winner (as a player for FC Porto) jetted into the country.
