Mbabane: Flying into Eswatini will now be easier than ever before, with seamless travel from around the world to the new King Mswati III international airport (KMIII).

This comes after the new partnership; Interline agreement between Airlink and two more international airlines; the Qatar Airways and United Arab Emirates.

Airlink is a privately-owned regional airline serving a comprehensive network of smaller destinations throughout Southern Africa. We are now operating independently under our own unique 4Z flight code offering more freedom, more choices and more travel opportunities. When you see the sunbird icon on our aircraft, think Airlink. You’ll know that you’re travelling with Southern Africa’s largest (measured by flight movements) independent airline.

Airlink has more than 50 commercial jetliners operating throughout Southern Africa. Last year they carried 2 million customers on more than 63 000 flights, on 55 routes to 39 destinations in nine African countries and St Helena Island.

Airlink already had interline agreements with British Airways, Air France, KLM and United Airlines. Adding Emirates and Qatar Airways to this list offers an even bigger outreach for travelers around the world wishing to travel to Eswatini on a single ticket.

Qatar Airways offers global air travel across all six inhabited continents and connects more than 160 destinations every day. Flights via their Doha hub take passengers from and to key locations all around the world including Europe, North America and Asia.

Emirates too offers air travel to passengers from all over the world, through their international hub in Dubai. Operating modern, efficient and comfortable aircrafts, their award winning services travel to 157 destinations.

The Interline agreement signed by the airlines will establish seamless connectivity between the two carriers, giving Airlink customer’s access to Qatar’s global network and Qatar’s passengers’ access to Airlink’s Southern Africa network of more than 45 destinations. Currently, Qatar is operating more than 650 flights a week to more than 90 destinations.

Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline commented on the newly formed partnership, saying “Emirates is pleased to partner with Airlink on a new interline agreement that will help us strengthen our presence and give customers more choice, flexibility and enhanced connections across 45 cities in Southern Africa. We are committed to our operations in South Africa, as we continue to look at ways to build our extended network for customers, and help them benefit with diverse travel options”.

Clark said, the interline agreement that has gone into effect with Airlink is only the start of further collaboration, and we are looking forward to exploring more opportunities to widen the scope of our partnership in the future”.

These agreements with Airlink will provide passengers with seamless connectivity via Cape Town and Johannesburg to more than 20 regional destinations in Southern Africa, including Gaborone, Maun, Tete, Port Elizabeth, Lusaka, Harare, Victoria Falls. Plus, of course, Eswatini, courtesy of Airlink’s flights every day between Johannesburg and the King Mswati III airport.

Airlink CEO, Mr. Rodger Foster said they were proud and excited about our new interline commercial agreement with Emirates. “We have a deep respect for the airline, its values and its global reach. We are confident that the relationship will deliver enhanced travel options to customers given the designed interconnectivity that will be enabled at OR Tambo International Airport and Cape Town International Airport. Airlink’s offering of connectable destinations includes most key points within Southern Africa such as; Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, East London, Bloemfontein, Harare, Lusaka, Maputo, Gaborone, Windhoek, amongst many others. ”

Eswatini opened its state-of-the-art King Mswati III international airport only 6 years ago. The airport’s location and excellent roads offers fast access to all regions of Eswatini so tourists from all over the world can easily explore the Kingdom.
