Mbabane – Diesel users will pay more from Friday after the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy announced a E1.30 per litre increase, pushing the price of Diesel 50ppm S from E26.20 to E27.50 per litre.

The new fuel prices will come into effect at midnight on Thursday, August 6, 2026, and will apply from Friday, August 7, 2026.

The ministry announced that prices for Unleaded Petrol (ULP95) and Illuminating Paraffin will remain unchanged. Petrol will continue to sell at E24.67 per litre, while illuminating paraffin remains at E20.38 per litre.

According to the ministry, the diesel price adjustment was influenced by rising international crude oil prices, which averaged US$87 per barrel in July 2026 compared to US$85 per barrel in June.

The ministry attributed the increase to pressure on global fuel supplies caused by shipping risks in the Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea, as well as Russia’s diesel export ban following Ukrainian drone strikes.

The Lilangeni also recorded a slight depreciation against the US dollar during the review period, averaging E16.46 in July compared to E16.37 in June.

The ministry said these factors contributed to the adjustment of diesel prices, while other fuel products remained unchanged.

Motorists and businesses that rely heavily on diesel, including those in transport and commercial operations, will now have to factor in the higher fuel cost from Friday.
