MB Parables Bring a Message of Respect in Debut Single
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

HLATHIKHULU, Eswatini — On a dusty afternoon at the Hlathikhulu Bus Rank, commuters paused as two young voices echoed through the bustle of taxis and street vendors. The performance wasn’t backed by a major label or expensive equipment, just raw determination, talent, and a dream.

That impromptu performance marked one of the first public appearances of MB Parables, a hip-hop duo made up of brothers Bandile Nobela (21) and Mphumelelo Nobela (18). Today, the brothers are celebrating the release of their debut single, “Sengshiywe Matekisi,” which became available on all major digital streaming platforms on 4 August 2026.

Born in Buhleni, the brothers grew up in a modest environment where music was more of a passion than a profession.

“We didn’t have studios. We had radio,” recalls Bandile. “We’d sing along and laugh because we sounded terrible.”

Their lives changed when they moved to Hlathikhulu to live with their mother and enrolled at Hlathikhulu Central Primary School. Surrounded by local talent and community performances, the brothers found inspiration to pursue music more seriously.

For years, they practiced quietly, writing lyrics and sharpening their craft. Then came the opportunity that would change everything.

At a local music event in Hlathikhulu, the brothers watched artist Fanson perform. Inspired by his confidence and stage presence, they introduced themselves after the show.

“We told him we wanted to learn and become artists too,” says Mphumelelo. “We never imagined that short conversation would open so many doors.”

Recognising their passion and willingness to learn, Fanson welcomed them into his creative circle, mentoring them through songwriting, studio sessions and the realities of the music industry.

As their journey gathered momentum, the brothers searched for a name that reflected both their bond and their purpose.

They settled on MB Parables, “MB” representing Mphumelelo and Bandile, while “Parables” symbolises the life lessons they hope to share through their music.

“We are brothers,” Mphumelelo explains. “Our journey is one story. We either do this together or not at all.”

Their first recording sessions took place at Wisi Eagle Record Studio, while some of their earliest performances happened at the Hlathikhulu Bus Rank, where commuters unknowingly became their first audience and biggest critics.

Those performances eventually connected them with Fanson and Triple Z, who later introduced the duo to producer TNS SAVVY of Wise Eagle Records in Matsapha.

It was inside that Matsapha studio where “Sengshiywe Matekisi” came to life.

Although the title references an unmarried young woman in siSwati, the artists say the song is not simply about relationships.

Produced by TNS SAVVY, the record combines energetic hip-hop production with melodic hooks while delivering a message centred on patience, self-respect and making wise choices.

“This track encourages young people to value themselves,” says Bandile. “We want people to understand that they don’t have to give in to pressure or chase attention. Your value is determined by your character.”

Rather than glorifying reckless lifestyles, the song encourages listeners to protect their dignity, respect others and remain patient in both relationships and personal growth.

Since preview clips began circulating online, many listeners have praised the duo for using hip-hop to communicate positive values.

Young fans say the song encourages confidence and self-respect in an age where social media often rewards instant gratification. Others have applauded the brothers for showing the strength of family collaboration, proving that success can be built together.

Older listeners have also welcomed the message, noting that the song blends modern hip-hop with traditional emaSwati values of discipline, patience and respect.

For MB Parables, the debut single represents more than the beginning of a music career, it represents hope for young people growing up in small towns across Eswatini.

“We started at a bus rank,” Bandile says. “If you have talent, use it. Your town is not too small, and your dream is not too big.”

As they look toward the future, the brothers say they remain focused on consistency rather than overnight fame.

“We are still learning,” Bandile adds. “But if our music can inspire even one young person to believe in themselves and make better choices, then we’ve achieved something meaningful.”

From singing along to songs on a cracked phone in Buhleni to recording professionally in Matsapha, MB Parables’ journey is a reminder that every dream begins somewhere.

For these two brothers, it began with one conversation, one opportunity and one shared vision.
