EZULWINI – FNB Eswatini has unveiled a groundbreaking Junior Golf Day as part of the fifth edition of the FNB Eswatini Challenge, marking a significant step in the bank’s commitment to developing the next generation of golfers in the Kingdom.
The initiative, which will be held during tournament week, was announced at the official launch of the 2026 FNB Eswatini Challenge by FNB Eswatini Chief Executive Officer Thokozani ‘TK’ Dlamini. It will provide young emaSwati with a unique opportunity to learn the fundamentals of golf while interacting with professional golfers competing in one of the country’s biggest sporting events.
Dlamini described the Junior Golf Day as an investment in the future of Eswatini’s golfing landscape.
“This year’s Challenge will feature a first-of-its-kind Junior Golf Day which will bring together young emaSwati to learn basic golf techniques and interact with some of the PROs that will grace the Challenge,” he said.
He explained that while the FNB Eswatini Challenge continues to attract elite golfers from around the world, the bank remains equally committed to ensuring that local children are exposed to the sport and inspired to pursue careers in golf.
“We want to ensure that while the Challenge attracts top golfers from across the world, we are also intentionally investing in the future generation of professional golfers that will come from Eswatini. Most importantly, we hope that being on the same greens with PROs will inspire our children to dream beyond their current circumstances and see what is possible through the experiences and achievements of these professional golfers,” Dlamini added.
The Junior Golf Day builds on FNB Eswatini’s long-term investment in grassroots golf development. Between 2019 and 2023, the bank invested E465 000 in partnership with Eswatini Nomads to support the Junior Golf Development Programme, helping introduce more young people to the sport.
Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Muzi Bongani Nzima welcomed the initiative, describing it as a meaningful investment in the future of Eswatini’s sporting talent.
“I have also learnt with delight that this year’s Challenge will include a Junior Golf Day aimed at nurturing the next generation of emaSwati golfers. We commend this as it ensures that while we celebrate the PROs of today, we are also intentionally investing in the next generation of golfers who will take Eswatini’s golf even further,” he said. Hosted under the theme “Rise to the Challenge,” the fifth edition of the FNB Eswatini Challenge will take place from 13 to 15 August at Ezulwini Golf and Country Club after the Client Pro-Am on 11 and 12 August. The tournament forms part of the prestigious Sunshine Tour and attracts over 100 professional golfers from across Africa, Europe, the United States and other parts of the world
