SITEKI – Excitement is building ahead of the upcoming Lubombo Fest, which is scheduled to take place at Polar Rest and Bar in Siteki on July 25, 2026. The announcement was made during the official launch of the festival held at the venue on Tuesday, with the programme proceedings led by MC Thando Ntshangase.
The launch brought together stakeholders from the events, arts, and culture sectors, all united in their support of the growing festival. Guests were welcomed by veteran events organiser Banele Dlamini, who also serves as Secretary of the Eswatini Events Management and Promoters Association (EEMPA).
Dlamini praised the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) for its continued support of the event, highlighting the role festivals play in boosting the local economy.
“We are pleased to see the Lubombo Fest grow. We are thankful to ENCAC for backing this event. The organisers are local businesspeople who help stimulate the economy,” he said.
Lubombo Festival Director Nhlanhla Matsebula echoed the appreciation for ENCAC’s support, noting that the festival has already contributed to the development of local talent. He cited artists such as Bandora and As 4 Jerry P as examples of performers who have benefited from the platform.
Matsebula stressed the importance of collaboration in identifying and nurturing emerging talent within the Lubombo region and beyond.
“I promise that this year’s festival will be an exciting build-up for next year’s edition,” he said.
ENCAC Chief Executive Officer Stanley Dlamini commended the festival’s leadership for its vision and determination. He encouraged organisers and community members to continue dreaming big, describing vision as the driving force behind the council’s work.
Dlamini also challenged the owners of Polar Rest and Bar to invest in accommodation facilities and strengthen security measures. He suggested introducing tented accommodation during the festival to improve visitor experiences and attract more guests.
With strong support from stakeholders and growing community interest, Lubombo Fest 2026 is shaping up to be one of the region’s most anticipated cultural celebrations.
