The Municipal Council of Mbabane has expressed optimism about strengthening its partnership with the Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC) following the appointment of Thulani Fakudze as the corporation’s incoming Managing Director.
In a congratulatory message shared on LinkedIn, Municipal Council of Mbabane Chief Executive Officer Gciniwe Fakudze said the city looked forward to closer collaboration with EPTC as it advances its Smart City vision.
She described Fakudze’s appointment as a positive development for the country’s digital transformation agenda, citing his extensive technical expertise and experience gained during his tenure at the Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM).
“His leadership comes at a pivotal time for our national digital landscape, and I am confident that his vision will drive the innovation and operational integrity needed to move our communications sector forward,” she said.
The CEO noted that as Mbabane pursues its Smart City programme, alignment between municipal digital infrastructure and national telecommunications objectives would be critical.
She said the council looked forward to the prospect of a strengthened partnership with EPTC to accelerate the rollout of modern connectivity infrastructure.
“Together, we can accelerate the deployment of the robust, future-ready connectivity required to turn our city into a truly intelligent, efficient and citizen-centric urban hub,” Fakudze said.
She further wished the incoming EPTC managing director success in his new role, adding that Mbabane stood ready to collaborate with the corporation for the benefit of all emaSwati.
Fakudze’s appointment comes as Eswatini continues to invest in digital infrastructure and connectivity aimed at supporting economic growth, innovation and improved public service delivery.
