Former NBA star Tristan Thompson has revealed that he underwent a vasectomy, but the decision appears to have been influenced by an ultimatum from his ex-partner, reality television personality Khloé Kardashian.
According to USA Today, speaking on Kardashian’s “Khloé in Wonderland” podcast, Thompson opened up about the procedure and admitted that his former partner played a role in the life-changing decision. Kardashian jokingly told listeners that Thompson “may have had a little ultimatum” from her, before adding that “sometimes you have to get forced into the right decision.”
The revelation has already sparked discussion online, with many debating whether partners should have a say in such personal reproductive decisions.
Thompson, who shares daughter True and son Tatum with Kardashian, said he has learned valuable lessons from his past mistakes and believes the vasectomy was the right move.
“I’ve been a little hardheaded at times,” he admitted. “More times than not. I guess I am an experience learner. I learn from experience, not as much as being told.”
The former basketball player, who also has two children from previous relationships, made it clear that he does not intend to have more children.
“No more kids, unless it’s coming from Khloé’s embryos,” he said.
However, Kardashian revealed that the door has not been completely closed. She disclosed that Thompson preserved sperm before the procedure, leaving open the possibility of future children should circumstances change.
The pair officially began dating in 2016 and ended their romantic relationship in 2021. Their breakup followed several highly publicised controversies, including Thompson fathering a child with another woman while still involved with Kardashian.
Despite their turbulent past, the former couple continues to co-parent their two children.
The vasectomy revelation has now raised fresh questions among fans: Was Khloé right to push for the decision, or should such choices remain entirely personal?
