Persie Zwidee Losonkondlo: The poet turning pain into healing
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

MBABANE — In the heart of Mahwalala, a young poet is quietly building a movement through words, emotion, and truth. At only 22 years old, Persie Zwidee Losonkondlo is proving that poetry can be more than art, it can become therapy for wounded souls.

Since emerging onto the creative scene in 2023, Persie has steadily established himself as one of Eswatini’s promising spoken word and music voices. With four EPs, nine singles, and over 23 performances across the country already under his belt, the young creative continues to grow both his catalog and his influence.

Persie’s artistic journey began at African Passion Records, where he introduced audiences to his emotionally honest style and reflective storytelling. Through his poetry and music, he quickly became known for tackling themes of pain, healing, hope, and perseverance.

Now working under Magamekhehla Entertainment, Persie has already released four singles with the label and is preparing three future albums. Although he has not yet officially performed under the new stable, he says the quieter season has allowed him to sharpen his message and grow creatively.

Raised in Mahwalala, Persie attended Ncabaneni before later completing his studies at Enhlanganisweni High School. Those formative experiences, he says, played a major role in shaping the grounded and relatable voice listeners connect with today.

Describing himself as a “souls healer,” Persie believes poetry should do more than entertain audiences.

“For me, words are healing,” he explained. “Poetry is therapy for both the writer and the listener.”

That philosophy is central to his upcoming release, Ningangishayeli, a deeply emotional collaboration featuring fellow poets Bless Lepoet and Umcondisi. The title, which translates to “You will not silence me,” reflects the resilience and determination that runs through much of his work.

“My dream is simple,” said Persie. “To heal people with words. That’s all I want to do.”

With a growing following, consistent releases, and a message rooted in emotional healing, Persie Zwidee Losonkondlo is steadily becoming more than just another upcoming artist. He is emerging as a voice for people who often feel unseen and unheard, both in Eswatini and beyond.
