MBABANE – Rising Eswatini-born songstress Sarnilo has officially opened her 2026 musical chapter with the release of her latest single, Bayabika, a SiSwati-infused Afrosoul and neo-soul R&B offering that explores the quiet yet powerful role of intuition in love and relationships.
Released on 17 April, Bayabika delves into the emotional space between certainty and doubt, that fragile moment when one senses a shift in love long before there is tangible proof. Through poetic lyricism and layered emotion, Sarnilo questions whether it is wiser to cling to “the devil you know,” even when that devil is not always what they seem.
The single was produced by Cape Town-based, SAMA award-winning producer Salie Sousa, whose refined and emotionally resonant touch shapes the sonic landscape of the track. Under his guidance, Sarnilo delivers a performance that feels both vulnerable and self-assured, marking a matured return for the artist.
Carried predominantly in SiSwati, Bayabika sees Sarnilo fully embracing her linguistic identity. By allowing her mother tongue to guide the narrative, she infuses the song with an authenticity and emotional weight that transcends borders. The use of SiSwati not only strengthens the song’s intimacy but also reinforces her commitment to telling African stories through an unapologetically local lens.
Sonically, the track is layered with subtle jazz undertones and a celestial bass line that moves with quiet intensity beneath the surface. The production remains intentionally restrained, creating space for the lyrics to breathe and take centre stage. The result is a sound that feels suspended in time, intimate, emotionally precise, and deeply reflective.
Following a growing catalogue of emotionally rich releases, Bayabika further positions Sarnilo as one of the region’s most compelling voices with global resonance. Her ability to merge traditional linguistic expression with contemporary soul continues to set her apart in the evolving African music landscape.
Bayabika is now available on all major streaming platforms.
