MBABANE – Minister of Home Affairs, HRH Princess Lindiwe, has announced that Friday, 24 April 2026, will be observed as a public holiday in honour of His Majesty King Mswati III’s 58th birthday and the 40th anniversary of his reign.
The announcement forms part of national preparations for the King’s double celebration, which will bring together emaSwati across the country to mark the historic milestone.
According to the Ministry, the King’s Birthday holiday, which was initially scheduled for Sunday, 19 April 2026, has been officially moved to Friday, 24 April 2026 to allow wider national participation in the commemorations. Monday, 20 April 2026, will remain a normal working day.
Alongside the holiday announcement, a public notice issued through the Resources Mobilisation Committee (RMC) has called on emaSwati, businesses and organisations to contribute towards preparations for the celebrations.
The RMC, which has been authorised to coordinate and receive donations, said the national occasion presents a moment for unity and collective support.
“This momentous occasion presents an opportunity for all individuals and entities to come together in support of our beloved monarch,” reads part of the notice.
Contributions, commonly referred to as kuphekisa Inkhosi, are to be channelled through the official RMC account held at Standard Bank, Account Name Resource Mobilisation Committee, Account Number 9110004207443, Branch Code 663164, SWIFT SBICSZMX.
The committee has also provided contact details for further engagement, with enquiries directed to +268 7690 5018 or resourcesmob@gmail.com.
According to the notice signed by RMC Chairman W. Mtshali, those who contribute towards the celebrations will be given an opportunity to present their gifts Tetfulo to His Majesty on a date that will be communicated later.
The committee expressed appreciation for continued support as preparations intensify for the national event marking four decades of His Majesty’s reign and his birthday celebrations.
