MBABANE – Eswatini Electricity Company has announced scheduled electricity interruptions across several parts of the country on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 as part of routine maintenance and infrastructure work on the national power network.

The power utility said the outages will affect communities in different regions including Pigg’s Peak, Big Bend, Sithobela, Siteki, Mankayane, Elangeni, Matsapha, Ntunja and Malkerns.

According to the company, the interruptions are necessary to allow technical teams to carry out maintenance, equipment upgrades and construction work aimed at improving electricity supply.

In the Pigg’s Peak and Big Bend areas, electricity supply will be interrupted between 09:00 and 16:00. Areas expected to be affected include Vusweni Clinic, Vusweni Primary School, Vusweni Umphakatsi and surrounding communities.

Other locations in the same maintenance zone include Dlakadla School, Mabantaneni, Emoyeni, Ncandweni, Mkhiwa and Chibini. The work scheduled in these areas involves routine maintenance and closing span operations on electricity lines.

In the Sithobela area, power supply will be interrupted from 10:00 to 16:00 while maintenance teams carry out line work affecting communities such as Mgangandvu, Mantini, Nkonjwa, Jija, Jericho and Nkelebheni.

Residents in the Siteki area, particularly Sitsatsaweni, will experience outages between 09:00 and 17:00. The work scheduled there involves closing span operations and relocation of a transformer.

At Mankayane, power supply to Eagles Nest and nearby areas will be interrupted from 11:00 to 14:00 to allow technicians to carry out ground sub clearing.

In the Elangeni area, electricity will be off between 10:00 and 15:00. The areas affected include Mananga, Mananga College, Mantenga Telephone Exchange, KFC Gables, Mantenga Store and surrounding communities. The maintenance activity planned there involves bush clearing along electricity lines.

In the Matsapha area, Mbikwakhe and nearby communities will experience outages from 09:00 to 16:00 as part of a transformer uprating project.

Electricity supply will also be interrupted in the Ntunja area between 09:00 and 16:00 affecting the MTN Eswatini site at Ntunja, Njunja Primary School and surrounding communities while teams carry out project construction work.

Further outages will occur in the Malkerns area between 09:00 and 17:00 where KaNdinda Kucolo and Hulley Farm will be affected as technicians undertake project construction and routine maintenance on the network.
