Mbabane – The Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology, through its Department of Research, Science, Technology and Innovation (RSTI), has completed the first round of school engagements under the National STEM Mentorship and “Science-in-Uniform Back to School Campaign” with visits to Nyamane High School and Mpaka High School.
The initiative is part of the Ministry’s ongoing national drive to inspire learners to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). During the school visits, learners were encouraged to take up Pure Sciences at senior secondary level, improve their digital literacy, and participate actively in forming and strengthening science clubs within their schools.
The RSTI team told learners that moving beyond being mere consumers of technology to becoming creators and innovators is crucial for contributing to Eswatini’s development. Schools were urged to formalize science clubs as platforms for mentorship, experimentation, and innovation.
Nyamane High School and Mpaka High School mark the final stops in the first cohort, which also included visits to St Mark’s High School and St Theresa’s High School. The Ministry plans to extend the campaign to more schools nationwide.
