MBABANE – The Eswatini Water and Agricultural Development Enterprise has unveiled an ambitious Digital Transformation Strategy, with its leadership declaring 2026 as the year the organisation pivots firmly towards data driven and technology enabled operations.
During the recent Operatus Mundi gathering held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, EWADE Chief Executive Officer Dr Samson Sithole officially launched the strategy under the theme “2026: Our Year of Intelligent Transformation.”
Addressing staff and stakeholders, Dr Sithole described the year ahead as “Our Year of Intelligent Transformation.” The strategy is anchored on three guiding principles Intelligent. Agile. Connected, and calls on every department and project team to align around unified data systems, streamlined processes and stronger collaboration.
Using the octopus as a metaphor, the CEO spoke about the need for central intelligence to guide independent yet coordinated teams that are adaptable, resourceful and aligned towards shared goals. The imagery, he said, reflects how different units within EWADE must function with autonomy while remaining connected to a common purpose.
The plan outlines several focus areas, including integrated real time data to support evidence based decision making, agile workflows to reduce bottlenecks, digital tools to enhance transparency and coordination, and deliberate efforts to break down silos across departments.
Dr Sithole reminded employees that “Everyone has a role in the digital future.” He noted that the transformation journey goes beyond the adoption of new systems and platforms, describing it as a cultural shift that requires a new mindset across the organisation.
The launch was attended by EWADE’s Founding CEO, whose presence reflected the enterprise’s journey from its establishment to what leadership described as its next phase of digital evolution.
