MBABANE – The Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs has announced that the 12th Edition of the Mahamba Gorge Hiking Sport will take place on Sunday, March 29, 2026, starting at 7:00 AM. The event was officially launched on Thursday, February 12, 2026, by Honourable Minister Jane Mkhonta-Simelane.
This year’s hike carries the theme #HikingforGBVAwarenessandDigitalSafety, addressing the growing issue of online Gender-Based Violence, including cyberbullying and digital harassment. The Minister said each step taken during the hike reflects a collective commitment to creating safe physical and digital spaces for all.
“The Mahamba Gorge Hiking Sport is more than just a hike; it’s a movement that drives socio-economic development in Shiselweni. We’re proud of the tangible impact, from building homes and providing food aid to supporting the Hlatikulu Girls Home and donating school essentials to vulnerable pupils,” Minister Mkhonta-Simelane said.
The Ministry acknowledged the support of sponsors, particularly Standard Bank and Montigny, and all partners who have contributed to making the event possible. Participants are encouraged to join in the hike to promote both awareness and community development.
