MBABANE – A total of 124 sunscreen lotions and 128 lip balms valued at more than E30 000 were handed over to the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office by Eswatini TV during a presentation held this morning.
The donation was officially presented by Eswatini TV Chief Executive Officer Mlamuli Dlamini to Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla at the DPM’s Office in Mbabane.
The items are expected to benefit vulnerable groups, particularly persons with albinism, at a time when the Kingdom is grappling with intense summer heat and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
Speaking during the handover, CEO Dlamini said the national broadcaster remains committed to advocating for persons with albinism. He noted that the station is currently running a drive aimed at raising awareness about albinism, tackling stigma and promoting inclusivity across communities in Eswatini.
Receiving the donation, Dladla expressed appreciation to Eswatini TV and members of the public who contributed towards making the initiative possible.
“It is worth mentioning that this donation of sunscreens is a timely and practical gift during these difficult times of very extreme heat we are experiencing these days in the country.
Sunscreen is an effective tool that helps prevent sunburn and reduces the long-term risks associated with excessive exposure to the direct rays of the sun. For many of our citizens children playing outdoors, market vendors, agricultural workers, and those who spend long hours in the sun access to sun protection can make a big difference to provide not only comfort but also protection for the skin.
As the office, we treasure this strong partnership as it reflects a shared commitment to timely prevention, community wellbeing, health and safety,” the DPM said.
