Hluthi – Two South African nationals aged 42 and 45 from Lubisi and Waterpaas are expected to appear before the Hluthi Circuit Court today in connection with the attempted murder of a 35-year-old man from the Mlambo area.
The incident is reported to have occurred on February 8, 2026, following a confrontation on the road involving the suspects and the victim, who was driving a kombi. Police information indicates that the suspects accused the driver of poor driving and reckless overtaking which they said interfered with their own driving.
After the exchange, the suspects allegedly followed the kombi until it stopped at the Florence area at around 1500 hours. Upon arrival, they reportedly blocked the victim’s vehicle, forcing him to alight and ask what the problem was. An argument then broke out between the three men.
During the confrontation, the suspects are accused of assaulting the victim and stabbing him twice in the stomach and once on the back using a sharp object. The injured man survived the attack.
Both suspects were arrested on the same day, January 8, 2026, and are scheduled to appear in court today.
Meanwhile, Bhunya police are investigating a separate attempted murder case involving an 85 year old woman from Mpuluzi. The elderly woman was discovered on February 9, 2026, at about 0600 hours with her throat slit open using a sharp object.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service is appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything, or who has information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect or suspects, to contact Bhunya police on 2452 6090 or call 999, 9999 or 112 for emergencies.
