Los Angeles – United States President Donald Trump has threatened legal action against comedian and television host Trevor Noah after a joke at the 2026 Grammy Awards sparked outrage.

Noah, hosting the ceremony, delivered a monologue that included a jab at Trump. He joked that the former president wants to buy Greenland because “Epstein’s island is gone,” drawing loud laughter and applause from the audience.

Trump responded shortly after the event on his social media platform, Truth Social. He called Noah a “talentless dope” and hinted at legal action, writing that he was “going to have some fun” dealing with the comedian through legal means.

The president’s full statement read:

“The Grammy Awards are the WORST, virtually unwatchable! CBS is lucky not to have this garbage litter their airwaves any longer. The host, Trevor Noah, whoever he may be, is almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the Low Ratings Academy Awards. Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG! I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media. Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast. It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$. Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out. Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you! President DJT”

The post went viral, sparking debate online. Many praised Noah for his fearless humour, while others said the joke crossed a line given the sensitive subject matter.

Noah, known for addressing controversial topics on The Daily Show and in his stand-up routines, has not publicly responded to Trump’s threat. Fans and fellow entertainers have expressed support, applauding his willingness to challenge powerful figures through comedy.
