MBABANE – The Ministry of Information Communications and Technology has launched the 2026 STEM mentorship sessions in Mbabane and Manzini, targeting graduated tertiary students as part of efforts to build skills for the digital economy in Eswatini.
The programme was officially opened this week at the Mbabane and Manzini National Libraries, commonly known as American Corners. It is being implemented through the Department of Research Science Technology and Innovation in partnership with the United States Embassy in Eswatini and the Innovators Association of Eswatini.
According to the ministry, the mentorship sessions brought together graduates from Mbabane and Manzini and focused on career readiness, science technology engineering and mathematics pathways, as well as opportunities available within the country’s growing digital economy.
Director of Research Science Technology and Innovation Dr Rejoice Maseko addressed participants during the opening sessions, urging them to make use of the free online courses offered by the Ministry of Information Communications and Technology.
She encouraged graduates to use the internet to start businesses and to explore emerging career opportunities linked to technology and innovation. Dr Maseko also called on young people to take advantage of existing youth development funds and empowerment programmes as entry points into innovation, self employment and broader economic participation in Eswatini.
